In this guide, we share easy tips that will help your Sightly products last as long as possible, whilst helping your dog look his or her best.

General Fabric Care Instructions

Spot Cleaning: If the material gets dirty, clean the affected areas as soon as possible to prevent stains from setting. Do not use bleach on the fabric as this may cause discolouration. Normally, baby wipes are effective at removing dirt quickly.
Regular Maintenance: Use a lint roller to remove dirt and hair between washes. This will make your dog’s clothing look clean for every walkie, rain or shine.
Effective Rolling Technique: For stubborn or difficult to remove hair, roll the lint roller in different directions (left-to-right and up-to-down) to remove the stuck hair.
Steaming: Steaming serves multiple purposes, including removing wrinkles but also fighting unpleasant odours and bacteria. Avoid placing the steamer directly on the surface of the material.

Following these steps will help keep your dog's clothing looking its best for longer!

Before Washing: Always remove hair with a lint roller prior to washing. This helps protect your washing machine and ensures a deeper clean for the clothing.
Use Mild Detergent: Opt for a gentle detergent to protect the fabric.
Separate Light and Dark Colours: Wash similar colours together to avoid colour transfer or bleeding.
Handwash: Handwashing is the recommended and most delicate way to clean Sightly Studio fine knit and delicate clothes, and to maximise their lifespan. However, we understand time can be hard to find and so Sightly Studio clothing can also be machine washed. Please see the instructions below on how best to do so.
Place in a Mesh Bag: Put the clothing in a mesh laundry bag to prevent damage during the wash.
Select a Gentle Wash Cycle: Use a delicate setting with a low spin speed (less than 800 RPM) to maintain the fabric’s quality. To make your clothes last for as long as possible, please set 30ºC (86ºF) as your standard option. Avoid tumble drying and high temperatures.
Keep it Short: Limiting the washing cycle to under 60 minutes is recommended for the best results.
Check the Care Label: Always refer to the washing label attached to the clothing for specific care instructions.

To keep your dog's clothing looking fresh and prolong its lifespan:

Smooth the Fabric: Use a soft fabric lint brush to gently brush the surface. This can help smooth out the material and refresh its appearance.
Remove Fabric Pills: If fabric balls (pilling) remain after brushing, use a fabric pill remover to eliminate them effectively.
Use a Fabric Shaver: Gently swipe the fabric pill remover over the affected area to eliminate the pills. You may wish to increase the pressure gradually over time.
Work on a Flat Surface: Lay the clothing flat, ensuring the area being cleaned is smooth and taut to prevent accidental cuts or damage to the fabric.
Final Touches: Finish by brushing the clothing again with a fabric brush to restore its smooth texture.
